Roman V Kremlin

Al Jazeera English | 30mins

One World Media Awards 2013, Special Commendation in the New Voice category

In the wake of Pussy Riot’s imprisonment in 2012, this film was an embed with members of the Russian opposition movement as they rebelled against Vladimir Putin, the Orthodox Church and Far Right nationalists.

Pro-democracy activist Roman Dobrokhotov had already been arrested over 120 times for his actions – part performance art, part comedy and always political statement.

In this observational documentary for Al Jazeera Witness, we followed Roman from the frontline on the streets of Moscow to the jail cells, where he would end up.
